Greetings, potential foolhardy adventurers, my name is Digby Frank (current Leader of The Dragons’ League) and I cordially welcome you to our humble website. The vast majority of relevant information about us, and the ideal place for getting in contact with us with any questions you have, is our Discord which you can find at the bottom of this page.
Below is a quickfire round FAQ, intended to condense all immediate important details for your consumption:
Who are we?
We are The Dragons’ League (not affiliated with WOTC or Adventurers League), a large collective of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition enthusiasts that regularly play D&D 5e and other tabletop roleplaying games.
What is D&D 5e, and why do you play it?
Compound questions aren’t good for an FAQ, but it’s a good question(s).
Dungeons & Dragons 5e (and other TTRPG (Tabletop Roleplaying Games) systems) are games where normally between 4-6 individuals roleplay as characters, typically questing to achieve some kind of shared goal. One additional person is the DM (Dungeon Master), who guides the players on their journey, and who creates the world that the players inhabit and roleplays as any creatures or people the players encounter on their journey. Typically the setting for the game is medieval fantasy, though this can differ to vague fantasy. D&D 5e uses a dice system (primarily d20’s, don’t worry we have countless dice to loan to players) in order to simulate the unpredictability of any significant action you take.
As to why, in as few words as I can tolerate, we play it because it is an incredible social, creative and fun experience that is very difficult to articulate to people that haven’t tried it yet. Were I able to legally mandate that everyone in the world try it once, I would. The experience of roleplaying someone that has a different background to you, different personality, different physicality, is a profound lesson in empathy and having a greater understanding of real people. When do we play D&D 5e? We play every Tuesday at Jotunheimen E-Sport, 1800-2300, with regular bi weekly campaigns. This means we have campaigns that run on odd weeks and campaigns that run on even weeks.
What do I need to play the game?
It is highly advised to speak with our Meet & Greeter’s on Discord about how to make a character, and what else you’ll need to bring for your first time, but generally you’ll just need a character sheet (a specific piece of paper with information about your character and optionally a set of dice (a d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20).
Do you do anything else?
That’s awfully accusatory, Emboldened Text, but I will answer your question nonetheless. Yes! We do! We also have WIld Card Sundays on the last Sunday of every month, where we run D&D 5e one shots that are perfect for new players, as well as Mini Painting Evenings where you can surprisingly paint minis
Why is the Emboldened Text portrayed as an entirely separate entity in this FAQ when it’s very obvious that the person answering the FAQ wrote this entire page?
Honestly I just got carried away and at this point it’s definitely a thing now and I strongly believe that we should all just accept it as canon.
